Agege LG POLL : LASIEC Fails To Produce Detailed Used and Unused Ballot Papers

Agege LG Poll: LASIEC allegedly fails to produce detailed “Used & Unused ballot papers”

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has been accused of not producing a detailed document of used and unused ballot papers associated with Agege Local Government Election.

This was disclosed by the inspection team of  Peoples Democratic Party.

Recall that Honourable Justice Babajide Candide-Johnson led Tribunal has granted the plea of the legal team of candidate of  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Sola Osolana to inspect all the electoral materials used during the poll.

The Tribunal is sitting on fallout of July 24 Local Government Election in Agege between Hon. Sola Osolana of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi of All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Data Analyst in-charge of the inspection, Mr Lanre Ogundare, LASIEC failed to produce detailed Electoral documents to the team.

“In line with the order of the tribunal sitting on Agege Local Government election, we requested for documents associated with the said election. We discovered that all the ballot papers used for the elections have been mixed up. LASIEC was unable to produced ballot papers used in every ward for us. Even the ballot papers allocation lists released to us are incomplete compared to number of polling units in Agege Local Government Area.

“When we requested for unused ballot papers, LASIEC Officials only gave us a bag and we asked them to produce unit by unit unused papers  in conformity with the ballot papers allocated before the election. But LASIEC Officials could not produce them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Osolana is challenging Agege Local Government Election on the ground of alleged several electoral malpractices like ballot snatching, multiple voting, vote buying, inconsequential results, harassment and unjust arrest during the election.
