The Flag-Off Ceremony of the Lagos State Health District 1 "District-Wide Sensitization and Awareness Campaign  on  Ilera Eko health scheme  took place today, Tuesday,  28th November,  2023 with distinguished guests and key stakeholders in attendance. The event,  which was aimed at launching the Ilera Eko Health Insurance Program provided by Lagos State Health Management Agency( LASHMA) and also  the opportunities in enrolling in  this initiative by the Executive Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu had in attendance the   Special Adviser to the Governor on Health; Mrs. Kemi Ogunyemi, Permanent Secretary Lagos State Health District 1;Dr. Olufunmilayo Bankole, P.S. Lagos State Health Management Agency - Mrs. Emmanuella Zamba, the Executive Chairman Orile Agege LCDA; Hon. Johnson Sunday Babatunde, Management team and Exco members, community stakeholders, staff and residents of Orile Agege.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Hon. J.S Babatunde, the Executive Chairman , Orile Agege LCDA,  He urged all Orile Agege stakeholders and residents to embrace the Governor's new initiative, the Ilera Eko Scheme, which offers basic health care provision with package  providing 40,000 for families and 8,500 for individuals with access to healthcare services at registered hospitals and , especially PHC in Lagos state.  




















The Council Boss also announced that 500 residents will be registered freely with an equitable distribution among the 53 Community Development Associations (CDAs) in the Local Council Development Area (LCDA). He emphasized the importance of patronizing Primary Health Centers (PHCs) equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to address the healthcare needs of the residents.

Permanent Secretary Lagos State Health District 1; Dr. Olufunmilayo Bankole reiterated the goal of the event,  which is aligning with Mr. Sanwo-Olu's ‘THEMES PLUS’ agenda where health and environment is given priority.She emphasized the subsidized prices of 40,000 for a family of six and 8,500 for an individual caters for access to basic healthcare services annually.

The  Special Adviser to the Governor on Health; Mrs. Kemi Ogunyemi in her keynote address emphasized the vital roles of Primary Health Centers as the bedrock of healthcare services in every community.  She enumerated the ir major benefits which includes but not limited to,  accessibility and affordability, advocating for the utilization of these centers to avoid the inconvenience of going outside the community  or travelling long distances for medical attention and care

Mr. Onakoya Adeniyi, Council Treasurer of Orile Agege  LCDA, who gave the vote of thanks,  poured encomiums on  Lagos state representatives , district 1 family and all  other attendees. The choice of Orile Agege, especially Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu  PHC by state Government is an attestation to the fact that it is one-of the best in the District.
