Prophet Godwin Ikuru of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, located in Egbeda dazzled commuters in Ajah area of Lagos with fuel palliatives on Friday September 1, 2023.
Speaking with journalists on the rationale behind the fuel palliatives, Prophet Ikuru stated that it is simply because of his love for the people and the love for the government, saying that the people must collaborate.
The cleric stated that he thought of what he could do for people who use fuel mostly, which he said are transporters, adding that "as you can see, most of them are happy, 'okada riders, bus drivers, and car owners."
The Ministry gave out 10 litre of Petroleum Motor Spirit, popularly known as fuel, to each motorist.
Speaking further, the man of God thanked President Bola Ahmed Tunubu, and equally expressed gratitude to the Lagos State government, led by Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for given him the opportunity to do the palliatives.
"You can see the prayers being said for Mr President, likewise the Governor of Lagos State, also the prayers offered for me and for everyone concerned with the gesture," he said.
The Founder of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry noted that the program went steadily, and that the Ajah edition marked third in the series.
Recall that the man of God started the fuel palliatives in Ikeja on Saturday August 26, while Surulere edition held on Wednesday August 30, adding that he will reach everywhere.
Speaking about why he decided to choose fuel as palliatives, he said that "whenever you see fuel, you see movement, fuel is a means of transportation and as you are aware, people are crying over the price of the fuel, that's why I chose fuel as palliatives.
"As you can see, one of the beneficiaries said that with that 10 litres he could make up to N10 ,000, which he would use to feed his family. You can see him offering prayers for the donor of the fuel."
Prophet Ikuru however, said that the Federal and State governments are parts of the initiatives and that because he is also part of the government as he was a member of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), he decided to do something to support the government.
He then advised other Christian bodies to emulate the gesture, noting that people must do something to help others.
One of the beneficiaries, who identified herself self as Alero Ubuwa, said that this a good gesture from the man of God, and prayed that God would continue to provide for him.
"We all need money and we urge Nigerians to do more because we cannot just place all the burden on one man. Therefore, we need more meaningful Nigerians to come to do more for the poor masses. I feel so sorry, people are dying of starvation, people should come out and support us," she said.
She said that the gesture would help a lot because the money that they supposed to channel on fuel could be saved for school fees or food stuffs at home, and that it is just a way of supporting families individually.
Yusuf Ridwan, a dispatch rider, who also benefitted from the gesture, thanked God for the person who provided the fuel.
According to him, "what the person has done is just to show his heart of kindness and heart of helping people. I think the government should compensate him and make him happy for doing this kind thing."
Also speaking, Fortunate Omesa, said that he was very happy for the gesture because he has been unable to buy full tank again, but that he usually buys N2500 worth of fuel.
"I thank him for given me the opportunity to be a partaker of the fuel palliatives. I didn't know this person, but God will continue to bless him more by the special grace of God. His ministry would never go down and God would take his ministry beyond his expectations," he said.
Another beneficiary, Yahaya Mohammed, said that he wanted to buy fuel, but that on getting to the filling station he was given free fuel.
He then expressed happiness over the gesture and appreciated the man of God.
According to Yahaya Mohammed, "this gesture could reduce unemployment in the country because the money that should have been used for fuel would be channel into another thing. My message to the brains behind this gesture is that God would reward them abundantly."
