AWA LOSES FOSTER MOTHER, FLORENCE IBUKUN FAMUREWA, AGED 90, 3 WEEKS AFTER MUMMY'S EXIT @ 93
Aborisade, Ola - Oni, Faleti, others mourn
"From Him we come, to Him we shall return". On setting out yesterday's morning to welcome dignitaries that were coming for the 2023 Yoruba National Day Celebration inside Western Hall of Oyo State House of Assembly, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan, Oyo State, the news of passage of my foster mother, Deaconess FLORENCE IBUKUN FAMUREWA, who was from Ijeshaland but was based in Olomi with her late Husband for Decades and up to the point of death, filtered in, just 3 weeks after the exit of my mother, Madam Rafatu Agbeke Oyebamiji, aged 98.
Famurewas and Oyebamijis are the closest family friends in Olomi, Ibadan, for decades, to the extent that our family Houses became annexed to each other on the same route from Olomi to Aba Alfa Village, in Akorede Local Council Development Area (LCDA).
As a person, I found it difficult to move with my Parents and Siblings in 1996 on leaving the area for a new place within Ibadan because with my two good friends, Brother Ajibola and Kayode Fameruwa, in existence, life continues in Olomi, I joined them in their own House and pounded yam suddenly turned out to be my major course, taking over from hitherto regurlar delicacy, Amala, as Ibadan man. The only thing I found difficult to do, is to speak Ijesa dialect.
To the glory of Almighty God, I was further trained by Mr and Mrs Famurewa for years before moving out of Olomi. The result of the training is what 'am enjoying Today.
This is my last Parent in Olomi, bidding us goodnite. Death is an inevitable end of everybody but we thank God for the life well spent by the Patriarch.
Burial arrangement to be announced later by the family
Good nite Mama Oninu Ire!
