ORILE AGEGE LCDA:. SALES OF SUBSIDIZED FOOD ITEMS KICKS OFF '
The Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege Local Council Development Area, Hon. Johnson Babatunde with an aged citizen who came all the way from Ifako Ijaiye to buy food stuffs from the highly Subsidized Food Items program organized by the Orile-agege Local Council Development Area of Lagos State-Nigeria was the highpoint of the event.
Hon Johnson Sunday Babatunde kicked off Sales of Subsidized Food items on Monday, 21st August, 2023 for residents in the council area as Part of efforts to ease as well as cushion the effects of the Subsidy removal by Federal Government.
According to the council boss, "this is just a tip of the iceberg. I am a man who believe in Service to Humanity. Our administration will continue to respond to the yearnings of the good People of Orile-agege Lcda during this period, and always."
The hike in prices of basic commodities, especially staple food is biting hard and almost everybody is complaining. Everyone is feeling the heat in the country, thus the reason why we organized this program.
We are also making arrangements with traders in all our markets whereby traders can sell food items to residents at Subsidized rates. I strongly believe such Partnership will give other residents who could not access these food items an opportunity to buy directly from our Local traders.
This program is funded by the council and not subsidy removal Intervention fund as speculated.
I can categorically inform you that, as a council we are yet to receive any Intervention fund, even States Governments are yet to receive the Interventions fund as speculated online, but as a responsible and responsive Government we don't need to wait for the intervention fund to give succour to our people when the need arises.
The beneficiaries thanked and appreciated the Council boss for the worthy and wonderful programme, but like Oliver twist asked for more.
The Chairman promised that more programmes would be embarked upon so as to give succour to the people.
