ORILE AGEGE COUNCIL BOSS EMPOWERS 50 YOUTHS........
PROMISES TO DOLL OUT PALLIATIVES TO 10,000 HOUSEHOLDS.
In a bid to alleviate poverty, reduce unemployment and empower the youths in Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, the council mayor, Hon Johnson Sunday Babatunde gave out 50 POS machines to 50 youths with 100,000 naira to start off today, Wednesday, 9th of August, 2023 at the Council secretariat.
The beneficiaries of the POS empowerment scheme were strategically selected by the Orile Agege chapter of the National youth Council of Nigeria, so as to ensure that the most vulnerable in the community benefitted from the programme.
Hon Babatunde in his welcome address thanked Wema Bank for keying into the council's initiative by providing POS machines, customized table and chairs, umbrellas and other items for th hff e business. He implored the beneficiaries to be disciplined, dedicated, focused and sacrifice while making the best use of the golden opportunity given to them.
Mr Project reiterated his administration's commitment to the welfare of his people and more importantly as the youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow, but today. To cushion the untold hardship of the fuel subsidy removal, plans are underway to provide foodstuffs to 10,000 household at a very subsidized rates.
The recipients of the POS machines will be saddled with the responsibility of receiving the payments and generate receipt for the purchase of the foodstuffs at a central point and this exercise will take place simultaneously on the same day.
The beneficiaries of the subsidized purchase will include residents, police officers, NURTW members, private and public school teachers , members of staff amongst others. Hon Babatunde promised that the exercise will not be a one off sales, as it will be a continuous one and the modus operandi has been fined tuned.
Present at the event were the vice Chairman, Hon Kafilat Akanni-Pedro, SLG, Hon James Agboola, other Exco members, Council Treasurer, Mr Muyiwa Onakoya, gentlemen of the press.
