" There is ability in disability, this isn't a gathering of disable but a get together of able women at heart, for with the THEME: DIGITAL INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY FOR GENDER EQUILITY"  we can rewrite our story by bringing out the best in us, show the world that disables are special people that need not to be written off in the society." A special guest speaker from Kwara state put aside all odds with her crane,  had this to say at the Deaf Women's Day Celebration and Award presentation recently held in Lagos, Nigeria.

It was a gathering of  talents as these special Nigerians strived for recognition  22 years ago with the relentless effort of the founder  Dcns. Beyioku- Alase who claimed she became deaf at a very tender age due to a reaction of a wrong injection trilled the audience with drama, rhymes, cultural display, fashion parades, incisive speeches with signs and codes.

Dcns. Adedoyin Beyioku - Alase in her brief interview with  INSIGHT GLOBAL NEWS Editor through  an interpreter of signs and codes narrated how the Association came to stay with the firm support of the chairman, Board of Trustee   Late Amb. Segun Olusola whom the Association of Deaf Women in Nigeria will ever live to remember." My dear; Mrs Beyioku continued, 22 years ago the journey was so rough, no one want to associate him or her self with the disables excpect Daddy Segun Olusola, he was solidly behind us

Lots of  humiliation, harrasment, denial of our rights was curbed because of Baba intervention. The recognition this association enjoying today was all  Baba's inputs, which gave birth to.this award , we are  orphans since his demise. but his memory lingers on '  Mama Deaf of Africa as.fondly called concluded emotionally.

Representative of Mr Olujinmi Olusola  AREF Chief Executive Officer  in person of Mr Wole Adediran who was also a recipient of Late Amb. Segun  Olusola award appreciated DWAN for the honour bestowed on Nigeria former Ambassador to Ethopia.

Mr Wole Adediran made it known to all that Amb. Olusola was a friend of the lonely which made Africa Refugees Foundation ( AREF) to be committed to  refugees and the neglected  across the globe.

AREF is a continuation of  Late Amb. Segun Olusola's good will to humanity regardless of race, colors, ethnic or religion as AREF project excecutive officer concluded by looking forward to receiving Deaf Women Association of Nigeria in one of her empowerment and  skills acquisition initiatives  for their disability must not limit the potentials endowed in them
