Ogun Police Arrests Fake Doctor for a Failed Surgery, Arraigned in Court

One Mr Afeez Adegoke, an auxiliary nurse and a junior community health extension worker had been whisked by Ogun State Police and was arraigned at Ota Magistrate Court 1 on May 23rd, 2023 for parading himself as a trained general medical practitioner and surgeon.
According to a reliable source, the accused was trained as an auxiliary nurse at Bode hospital before establishing his hospital named Goodness Medical Center at Antenna Bus/stop, Onibuku town, Iju-Ota area of Ogun State, with over 10 years of incompetence .
INSIGHT GLOBAL NEWS reports that Mr Afeez Adegoke had an unsuccessful surgery of henea disease twice on one Mr Patrick Effiong whose life is at stake.
Mr. Patrick decided to involve the police and human rights activists after being rescued by an experienced medical practitioner.
The Ogun state Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr Kunle Ashimi in his brief interview at the court premises frowned at the unprofessional act of the accused who hid under the umbrella of Alternative Medicine Board affirmed the ugly incidence which has been a repeated occurence in Ota axis and Ogun state at large.
When been queried by the media on measures taken against quackery?
Dr. Ashimi insisted that despite revalidation execercise of the state government on medical practitioners before issuance of operation licences years ago which was fruitful, quacks registered themselves with the Alternative Medicine Board which they think give them access to operate as a trained doctor. The alternative medicine involves traditional birth attendance and the like who are not supposed to give injections, talkless of fluid or surgery.
Dr. Ashimi did not hesitate to inform the media that the Ogun state government, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) including the affiliated body of Nigeria Private Medical Practitioners (NPMP) will not relent in overcoming the menace of quakery in Ogun state and environs.
It will be recalled that sometimes in the year 2022 The Association of Nigeria Private Medical Practitioners ( ANPMP) Ogun state chapter under the Chairmanship of Dr. Olukayode Oyelade in a Press Conference raised alarm on the outrageous menace of quakery taken over the medical profession and war against mushroom death trap hospitals that has maimed and wasted lives in Ogun state .
Though the accused, Afeez Adegoke pleaded not guilty at the court as case wass adjourned by the Magistrate to Friday, May 26th, 2023.
Dr Kunle Ashimi implored the populace to be conciouse of their health and survivor by ignoring death trap mushroom clinics and patronize government health facilities, private registered hospitals as well as request for a proof of professionalism from the medical personnel of such hospital if need arises.
