POST NIGERIA GENERAL ELECTIONS: APGA CHANCES ON FUTURE POLLS

Professor Peter Umeadi, a retired Chief Judge of Anambra State, Nigeria, was born on 4th July 1955 in Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. Prof. Umeadi holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Lagos and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1978. He also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) degree from the University of Lagos.
Prof. Umeadi served as a High Court Judge in Anambra State before being appointed as the Chief Judge of the state in 2014. He retired from the position in 2019 after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 65 years. He is a visiting Professor in the faculty of law university of Nigeria, Nsuka,
Prof. Umeadi is known for his strict adherence to the rule of law and his efforts in promoting the independence of the judiciary in Nigeria. He intends to raise the quality of life of the common people in collaboration with all relevant and strategic stakeholders, thereby raising good governance, the rule of law, and judicial independence across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
In the just concluded 2023 Nigeria General Elections, Professor Peter Umeadi was the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), with Mohammed Koli as his running mate. APGA is a 21-year-old, third largest political party in Nigeria and the first political party to be registered with the word ‘progressives’ in its name.
The party grew with the intention to provide the true progressivism that Nigeria craves. During the 2023 presidential elections, the people poured out their hearts towards ensuring a free and fair election by electing whom they believe in.
According to INEC’s data, 93.5 million eligible voters registered to participate in the election, out of which only 25.3 million participated and had their votes count. APGA was well represented across the nation as there was a total of 61,966 votes counted for the party.
Here is a breakdown of votes according to 6 states of the federation.
Delta - 3,764
Niger - 2,539
Plateau - 883
Zamfara - 921
Jigawa - 1040
Kebbi - 1000
Aside Gov. Soludo governoship seat in Anambra state, It will be recalled that APGA defeated PDP Lawmaker in Bayelsa senatorial seat as well as one other state in Nigeria.
Come future general elections, APGA is definitely going places as congratulatory messages from friends, families both home and abroad rolled in to wish Prof. Umeadi a good job well done for placing the party in a good light.
