Double Tragedy as Ayinde, Omititi bid us goodnight within 48 hours
"From you will come, to you we shall all return".
Oluwatoyin Mathnuel
While I took a seat around 9pm today inside a quiet sitting Room at GRA, Ikeja, to pay my dear Brother, Comrade in the Nigerian Democracy struggles, longstanding Partner in Progress and Chief of Staff, Lagos State, Hon Tayo Ayinde, condolence visit over the death of his young, beautiful and caring Wife, Princess Adedoyin Raliat Ojora Ayinde, popularly known as DOYIN OJORA, who passed on Sunday at the age of 36, I wanted to switch off my phone to allow me concentrate on what brought me to the place but my attention was hurriedly drawn to a Breaking News that entered my WhatsApp page by the incoming alert, which later turned out to be a painful announcement of the death of my closet friend in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Olayiwola Subair Olawale a.k.a. Omititi, representing Mushin II State Constituency. We knew each other for a very long time dated back to the period when we had Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Executive Governor of Lagos State between 1999 to 2007. Then, he was a Special Assistant to Governor of Lagos State on environment alongside my another close friend and Illustrious Son of Senator Ayo Fasanmi, the late Leader of Afenifere, Hon Afolabi Fasanmi.
Meanwhile, in the afternoon at the State Assembly, I heard of the death of One of the Lagos State Honourable members, who slumped and died on his way back to Lagos from the APC Presidential Campaign kick - Off which was held today in Jos and I did pray to Almighty God to grant him sweet repose without knowing it was my closet friend that had just left us, I was praying for.
Through my effective cooperation from family's side, he was highly instrumental to the Lagos State House of Assembly's involvement in the funeral ceremony of Late Prof Akinwunmi Isola in some years past, in Ibadan, which later led to the glamorous arrival of the entourage of the Lagos State House of Assembly led by my dear Brother and Political associate of decades, the Honourable Speaker, Rt. (Hon) Mudashiru Obasa at the Anglican Church Service, by Agodi/Gate B/Stop, Ibadan.
My Car broke down late night one day, on my way out of Lagos, after Berger and before the long bridge and I couldn't do otherwise than to reach him on phone and immediately, he arranged for my Hotel accommodation around the same place and the mechanic that solved the problem very early in the morning, second day.
"Awa, you are working politically and every eye sees it clearly. Therefore, we that are fortunate to be in Government are always feeling bad for not being able to geniunely appreciate your numerous and fantastic inputs". This had since become your own Anthem and you repeated same this same period.
Your mass movement Campaign before winning your first term election into the State Assembly could be described as "great New", "Omititi", your inability to win a third term ticket to contest for the Assembly's election, was "Omititi", "headline news"; your impactful presence in the State House of Assembly was "covetous", "Omititi" and your exit today was "Omititi", "shocking to all"
What a double Tragedy? I am at a loss right now and I know, I will keep on asking you, my Creator, till the question is being answered by YOU Only.
Omititi of Africa, goodnight!
