Rep empowers 300 constituents with N25m agricultural, vocational grants
(NAN) Dr Samuel Adejare, representing Agege Constituency, Federal House of Representatives, on Friday in Lagos, empowered 250 of his constituents with capacity training in agriculture and vocational skills worth N25 million.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the constituents from different fields of agriculture and vocations were empowered with cash grants ranging from N50,000 to N100,000 each.
Adejare in his remarks at the event urged the beneficiaries to utilize the cash grants judiciously in the appropriate areas that would add value to their lives.
The lawmaker advised artisans amongst them to also use the working implements given to them to fight poverty and for the betterment and upliftment of their personal businesses.
He said, “I thank the APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari, for their support and contributions towards the development and upliftment of democracy in the country.
“Democracy is the government of the eople, by the people and for the people, so Nigerians and my constituents must enjoy the dividends of democracy.
“We are not stopping here at all, and this will not be the last. The good people of Agege and Orile-Agege Federal Constituency should be expecting a mega and mother of all empowerment programs in a few months’ time.”
Adejare urged residents, especially youths in Agege to shun any form of political violence and thuggery as the 2023 general elections drew closer.
Mr Yinka Ogundimu, a member of Lagos State House of Assembly Representing Agege 02 Constituency in his remarks also appealed to the beneficiaries to use the money appropriately to improve their standard of living.
Ogundimu urged the residents of Agege to go all out to perform their civic responsibility during the 2023 elections by voting for the right people.
Mrs Bolanle Lawal, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the federal lawmaker for the empowerment and assured that he would use the grant appropriately for livestock farming.
“This is a great opportunity for me to be one of the beneficiaries on this empowerment, actually the grant will go a long way in poultry farming livestock feed and other materials needed to boost my farming,” she said.
“Mr Dele Shobande, also a beneficiary hailed the lawmaker for the kind gesture, saying the grant would assist him in buying a washing machine for his laundry business.
“I have been trying all the years past to buy a washing machine to help me in my laundry job, but this grant will be used to purchase the machine to improve my business,” he said. (NAN)
