OTTA VOCATIONAL CENTER: 50 Youths Begin Nigerian Breweries PLC Vocational Training

Fifty(50) youths have commenced training in the vocational skills programme sponsored by the Nigerian Breweries PLC and facilitated by our Most Revered Royal Father, the Olofin Apesin Olode, Olota of Otta, Awori Kingdom, His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Abdukabir Obalanlege Ph.D MCIPR, MPRII, FHEA (Lanlege Ekun II, Arole Iganmode).
The training covers five (5) skills set. They are: Information and Communication Technology; Catering & Event Management; Make Up & Gele, Hairdressing and Fashion design.
The intensive training will last for three(3) months, and it is the maiden edition since the construction of the Vocational Center through the office of Senior Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, H.E Mrs Adejoke Orelope- Adefulire sited on the plots of land donated by the foremost club in Otta Kingdom "Iganmode Club".
The Ota Brewery Manager, Mr. Rotimi Odukudu at the kick-off ceremony on Wednesday, 17th August 2022 commended His Majesty for his vision and love for his subjects, particularly the youths. He declared that the participants would not just be trained but they will be equipped with tools and resources that will enable them to start their own enterprises after the exercise.
He further explained that the design of the training is to ensure that beneficiaries end up as successful artisans, entrepreneurs, and employers of labour, which is why emphasis will be placed on entrepreneurship and practical skills.
In his Royal remarks, Kabiyesi Olota thanked Nigerian Brewery Plc for its commitment to the empowerment of Nigerians and for collaborating with the Palace in our collective efforts to address the increasing rate of social vices in the Country. Kabiyesi submitted that “this kind of synergy is vital to actualize our respective mandates and effectively address most of the problems confronting the country, especially unemployment and poverty and their effects on national life.”
Other community leaders at the historic flag off include; Kabiyesi Onitetiku Owode Otta, Alayeluwa Oba Wasiu Ogungbayi, Ajana of Ijana, Alayeluwa Oba Clement Akinyemi; Balogun of Otta, High Chief Idowu Isiaka Balogun; Baale Isorosi, Baale Jamiu Akinremi, President of Iganmode Club ably represented by Seriki Oruba Otta, Oloye Olayiwola Deinde, Akeweje Obinrin Otta, Chief Mrs Ramota Ibikunle and other notable stakeholders.
Recall that a meeting was recently convened by His Majesty and well attended by Managing Directors/Representatives of various companies within Otta Kingdom on the need to significantly impact the Kingdom through various platforms. Nigerian Breweries PLC has taken the lead by choosing to train and empower the Youths on different vocational fields. More to come!
