The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) under the leadership of MD Odumboni is tasked with the responsibility of keeping the environment in Lagos clean through appropriate collection and environment-friendly disposal of waste. A check by our correspondent around Ijora axis of Lagos shows how the efforts of LAWMA in keeping the environment clean is been frustrated as some individual , learned citizens expected to lay a good example violate the environmental law by dropping their waste on illegal dump sites.
As of previous years, Lagos residents believed 200 Naira monthly due is too much , as most residents refused to cooperate with LAWMA thereby adding to the problem on ground by giving their waste to cart pushers and other means, these ones end up dumping the waste at unauthorized places. Most time they ignore the warnings notice boards and go ahead with their evil and if cut they start begging for forgiveness.
This is a call to all citizens to desist from illegal acts of waste disposal and make the environment a safe place for all.
