Democracy, according to L. S. Hornsby, is "government of the people, by the people, and for the people." This essentially means that for clamors, discussions, and the like, the electorates (citizens) have access to whoever was elected and in authority
The Local Government is undoubtedly an arm of the government that is more accessible to the populace (grassroots). Although it is regrettable that Nigerians have this perception of not having access to the elected leaders even at the Local Government level.
Hon Olasoju disproved it when the Isolo LCDA chairman in Lagos state,Nigeria was seen with a vulnerable person who the media believes to be a close friend of the LCDA. No one was subjected to any form of harassment or intimidations . Hon. Bayo Olasoju was quite approachable.
The Professional Women in Media led by Lion Princess Lilian Odumosu were marvelled as this is what Nigerians need; the Government of the people with listening ears to the cry of the masses.
