(NAN) Ibeju-Lekki Local Government in Lagos State has partnered PAN Atlantic University on coaching public secondary schools as a means of achieving developmental goals on education within the council area.


Mr Abdullahi Olowa, the Executive Chairman of the council disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the development would advance the educational standard of students in the local government.


Our administration has expressed its passion for public private partnership as a means of achieving developmental goals which cannot be solely and thoroughly achieved by the council without support.


"We have concluded an arrangement with the university situated within the council area to provide free coaching classes for students of Senior Secondary Schools across the local government.


"This is an attempt to create an extra learning time for these students as well as prepare them for future exams," he said.


According to him, the arrangement was sealed in the Executive Chairman's Office when the Director of Development of the University, Dr  Frank Wiggle, paid a courtesy visit to the council.


Wiggle in his remarks during the visit commended the chairman  for his commitment to educational development which is one of the reasons the University was stretching its hands of partnership.


The Director said the students would be taught by the Undergraduate  students  and Staff  of Pan Atlantic University within the  top citadel of learning complex.


He added the local government would take care of other logistics during the process.


According to him, the programme is scheduled to begin before the end of April, and subjects to be taught are, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, English Language, Economics and Mathematics respectively.


Wiggle said  it was certain that students benefitting from the programme would be improved academically and be better prepared for the future academic challenges.


He added that classes would  be  slated for every Saturday when the coaching begin. (NAN)
