 MEET AKA HANAH,  A 23 YEARS OLD FEMALE COBBLER

There is this popular saying of " What a man can do, a woman can do better" . Aside in this society of the 20th century , there has been a clarion call  on the girl child as " Train , educate a girl child , you educate a nation"

Hanah Aka is a product of a home where making ends meet is not an easy task. 

An Indigene of Benue state, residing with a non relatives who are mere God sent , defiles all odds  and made up her mind against vices that befalls girl child, teenagers in the society to make herself relevant after three years of apprenticeship as a cobbler in Festac area of Lagos state.

The female cobbler opened up to Oluwatoyin Mathnuel INSIGHT MAG ONLINE NEWS   at her kiosk located at 7th Avenue that she went for shoe making because she derives joy in mending shoes at age 17.

Though no formal education but with this formal skill she is able to take good care of herself , her parents and siblings in the village .

Hanah had no course to rely on any male friend for a peanut of a sanitary towel, undies or any personal needs for God has been on her side by sending customers especially male clients who were marvelled for her choice of career and decided  to encourage her by patronizing the local made shoes, sandals or slippers which charges were paid without any negotiations unlike the female customers  who will price her products like cryfish'  

Towards the end of the brief chat,  Hanah Aka adviced the teens, especially the girl child to be focus and be determined be it formal or the informal type of education,  whatsoever each found themselves doing should be done well . 

Girl child should beware of the roaring lions out there looking for  prey to devour.

 

The female cobbler rounded it up by saying' this in pidgin " No love anywhere if you no get beta hand work!  Sebi you dey hear how dem dey use woman for rituals everytime ? Any book wey dem read make dem still learn handy work because if everything fail you the work wey you learn and your God no go fail you !
