Yuletide: We will focus on black spots on expressways to curb crashes, gridlocks----FRSC

Lagos, Dec. 14, 2021 (NAN) The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that it would focus more on the black spots along various corridors to avoid crashes and gridlocks during the yuletide.
Mr Peter Kibo, the Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Ogun and Lagos State disclosed this during the strategic meeting of Zonal Operators of the corps.
According to him, the personnel will ficus more on the identified black spots along Lagos Ibadan expressway and other corridors to ensure there's hitch free on the highways during the yuletide.
This is the end of the year, we use to have lots of challenges on the road during this period, that is why we are planning to ensure free crashes and gridlocks during this festive period.
"Within this period the corps send more personnel to various routes to ensure free flow of traffic and to avoid motorists spending hours in their journeys as a result of traffic jam," he said.
Kibo said that the major target of the corps this period was to ensure free flow of traffic at the same time caution the motorists to be conscious of the black spots along major expressways to curb crashes.
The zonal commander said that the has also strategised on using motorcycles for quick response to accident victims and prompt evacuations of vehicles within short period of time to restore free flow of traffic.
Mr Segun Ogungbemide, the Lagos State Sector Commader FRSC, in his remarks said that the corps has set for the period to ensure sanity on the road.
Ogungbemide said that the personnel have been well briefed to keep away from any compromise that can tarnish the image of the corps.
There's no other thing expected from our officers than to be committed and dedicated to their assignments and keep away from any compromise that can tarnish the image of the corps, " he said.
The sector commander however, appealed to the motorists obey the traffic rules and regulations avoid overloading and obey COVID-19 protocols to avoid arrest in the course of their journeys.
Mr Mathew Zango, the FRSC Lagos Sector Head of Operation in his remarks during the Flag off of Ember Months Zero Tolerance on Crashes and gridlocks said that efforts have been put in place to curb crashes to the bearest minimum.
Mathew the Deputy Corps Commander, said that the corps has synergized with other agencies to ensure crashes were prevented and quick response also given to accident victims in case of any occurrences.
"We are collaborating with other traffic agencies and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to prevent crashes at the same time give prompt response to accident victims.
"The collaborations will ensure quick evacuation of carcass on the road restore normal vehicular movement," he said.
He urged the motorists to always maintain normal speed limits and shun the habit of taken substance and alcohol when driving.
