THE DIRECTOR PUBLIC RELATIONS NSCDC NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS (NHQ) ALSO BAGS NAOSNP NSCDC IMAGE MAKER OF THE YEAR AWARD IN LAGOS.
The Commandant General (CG) Ahmed Abubakar Audi phd, mni, bagged exemplary leadership award at a National Security Conference and Award Ceremony, organised by the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), held on Wednesday, 10th November, 2021, at the NECA HOUSE, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The award was presented to the CG Ahmed Audi phd, mni, by the former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mike Okiro (rtd) and was received by DCC Sola Odumosu, who ably represented the CG, at the Conference.
. In the same vein, the Director, Public Relations of the NSCDC NHQ, Abuja, also received NAOSNP NSCDC Image maker of the year award at the same event, where he also ably represented the Commandant General (CG) Ahmed Abubakar Audi phd, mni.
The Commandant General's paper presentation, CG Ahmed Audi, phd, mni, centred on the theme " A nation under siege : Activating Technology and Local Intelligence to solve conundrum," was delivered at the Conference by the Director of Public Relations, DCC Sola Odumosu, who explicitly drove the key points home, to the earing and admiration of the audience, with a kinetic hope that our nation and people will remain safe and secured and with a renewed assurance that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), will continue to play a major role, in providing active and proactive intelligence to avert perpetual perpetration of crimes, protection of our nation's critical national assets and infrastructure, ensure the safety, security and protection of lives and property and ensure disaster management at all levels, amidst other intellectual and operational strides towards the peaceful co-existence of our nation.
The CG, in his paper delivered, on his behalf, by the Director of Public Relations, further said, "he was pleased that the Government of the day, under President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has been doing its best to address the nation's security challenges, within the confines of the law. He therefore, wished to seize the medium to enlist the support of all stakeholders toward putting an end to the dangerous trend of insecurity, which in itself has become a global phenomenon."
Further more the CG's lecture, opined that the way forward, will be a citizen - based, system governed and technology - driven security architecture, designed towards resolving the conundrum. The paper further enumerated series of efforts made by the erudite CG within the Corps' operations in the area of technology. The paper stated :
"(I). NSCDC has reduced the rate of criminality through the adoption of scientific approach for reporting incidences and arrest, code - named Integrated Electronic Arrest Reporting System (I - EARS).
(II) Deployment of Address Verification System in collaboration with NIPOST to control indiscriminate use of fake address to acquire national security documents for criminal purposes.
(III) Deployment of Public Crime Alert System Monitoring for Disaster response and coordination, most especially, in crowd control, violence and criminal activities in disaster locations.
(IV) Implementation of NSCDC Private Security Identity (PSID) for the control of illegal use of security uniforms for criminal purposes and prevention of small arms proliferation.
(V) Deployment of PCASM platform for real - time election monitoring and schools security.
(VI) Deployment of National Drainage Maintenance Volunteer Corps system for disaster prevention and intelligence gathering.
(VII) Deployment of Road Crime Control System (RCCS) for motor parks protection and passenger's safety amongst others.
. Nonetheless, the agenda of the CG Ahmed Audi, phd, mni, to rejig, revamp, reposition and reinvigorate the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, remains sacrosanct and unflinching.
. Keynote addresses were also rendered at the event, first, with a deeply resounding and highly cerebral thoughts by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mike Okiro (rtd), IGP Mohammed Dikko Abubakar (rtd), ably represented by Commissioner of Police (CP) Sam Abichele Okaula (rtd), Commandant - General (CG), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, phd, mni, ably represented by Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC) Sola Odumosu, Director of Public Relations, NSCDC, National Head Quarters, Honourable James Faleke, ably represented by Mr. Oladotun Olakanle, Chairman Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Corps Marshall, Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, ably represented by Sector Commander Olusegun Ogungbemide of the Lagos Command, Barrister Monday Onyekachi Ubani, Chairman of the event and the Managing Director, LAWMA, Mr. Ibrahim Adejuwon Odumboni were amongst other dignitaries present but not limited to the Registrar - General, Institute of Criminology and Strategic Studies of Nigeria (ICSS), Adekunle Aderemi, phd, fcss and few executives of the institute and the former General Manager of LASTMA Eng. Olajide Oduyoye.
. Finally, the event also featured a panel session, with panelists called upon to also further deepen the discussion and practically x - ray the theme of the conference.
