 Kosofe LG gives free GCE forms, free coaching to 150 indigent students

Lagos, Oct. 15, 2021 (NAN) The Kosofe Local Government Council in Lagos State has offered 150 free General Certificate Examination Forms to indigent students within the community in the council area.

Mr Alufohai Omokhudu, the Special Adviser on Special Duties gave the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.

Omokhudu said that the council Chairman Mr Moyosore Ogunlewe, embarked on the educational development to ensure the less privilege students were not left behind in their academic pursuits.

"Initially we budgeted 100 free GCE forms for students but when we discovered the crowd we have to increase it to 150 students to ensure majority benefit from the gesture.

"The exercise is not only about free GCE form, we also organise free tutorials for the students to give them adequate preparations towards the examination.

"At the same time, the council chairman ensure that qualified teachers were also employed to give the students the best coaching before sitting for the exam," he said.

According to him, the tutorials are divided into two sections in order to involve students that are presently in school and those that have passed out.

He said that the two tutorial sections were meant to ensure both morning and afternoon students benefitted from the tutorials.

Mr Bisi Afolabi, one of the beneficiaries said that the council chairman has given him life opportunity to pursue his academic career.

Afolabi thanked the chairman for the free GCE forms and the tutorials saying that it would enable him further his education to university level.

Miss Laide  Salami, also a beneficiary thanked the council chairman saying such gesture would go a long way in helping her continue her education. (NAN)
