The University College Hospital, Ibadan, ( UCH ) Oyo State, had debunked a false viral report of Ebun Oloyede, popular Yoruba actor " Olaiya Igwe", for been confirmed dead at the hospital on Monday.
Report went viral on social media, on Monday, that Igwe passed on shortly after undergoing a major surgery on kidney stone at the tertiary teaching hospital.
The Public Relations Officer of UCH, Toye Akinrinola, explained to media that he was not aware of his death.
“I am not aware of anything like that. A journalist had called me earlier on the matter. We just checked; there is no record of him at the Emergency Unit of the hospital. At least, if he died at the hospital, the Mortuary record should have revealed that to us,” Akinrinola said.
When veteran actors, Awofe Afolayan, Yemi My lover was called, he also dispelled the news of his death.
Awofe said, “Rumour of his death is untrue. Olaiya is still very much alive. I spoke with his wife this evening on the telephone about an hour ago !
It will be recalled that of recent Olaiya Igwe’s fans had posted on the social media that he was confirmed dead on Monday morning at the UCH, Ibadan, while undergoing a kidney stone surgery.
Olaiya Igwe as at last week Tuesday in Abeokuta state capital of Ogun had marked his birthday , while his fans celebrated him on social media.
