Lagos LG/ LCDA Induction Retreat : Sanwoolu Urges Council Chairmen To Accelerate Good Governance At The Grassroots!

Sanwo-Olu Advises Council Chairmen to Commit Resources to Inclusive, Result-Oriented Programmes

...As Apatira, Other Chairmen Promise A Credible Performance that Align with APC's Manifesto

The Executive Chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Olanrewaju Apatira alongside his counterparts recently sworn-in as chairmen of the 57 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos, promised to perform credibly well and work to make the All Progressives Congress 'APC' proud.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Oba of Lagos, Governor’s Advisory Council, APC Elders counsel the council chairmen at the two-day capacity building induction retreat organized by the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, themed: “Engendering Peace, Security and Development at the Grassroots”.

The Governor advised the council helmsmen to align themselves with the timeless legacy of APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and treat the baton of leadership handed to them on the platform of APC with dignity by embarking on purposeful, result-oriented developmental strides and prioritizing programmes focused on people’s welfare to address poverty and accelerate good governance at the grassroots.

Governor Sanwo-Olu while advising the chairmen against playing politics with development, as their tenure would be assessed by impactful development recorded under their leadership, urge them to harmonise their policies and programmes with the State Government’s T.H.E.M.E.S agenda for coordinated impact.

While cautioning the council chairmen against chasing after wealth to the detriment of their community members, Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, compared their job to that of a policeman, which according to the monarch, mostly not appreciated by the citizens. But only the development initiated would stand them out for people’s recognition.

Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr. Wale Ahmed, charged the chairmen to show good attitude, saying their performance would reflect on the image of the party.
