MRS SHOLA GANDHI- ADEYEMO DONATES FREE SANITARY PADS TO GIRLS OF ANGLICAN GRAMMAR SCHOOL, OYEDEJI
There are various barriers for children in Villages to attend school. One such barrier for young females is access to menstrual hygiene products. Many girls from low-income families end up not attending school during their menstrual cycle because they can not afford Sanitary pads causing them to fall behind their male counterparts.
Mrs Shola Gandhi-Adeyemo, a Pharmacist and Public health advocate, recognized the need to address the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products for female adolescents in her hometown of Ibadan, Nigeria where she grew up.
Through the generous donations of Mrs Shola Gandhi-Adeyemo's family, friends and associates, girls at Anglican Grammar School, Oyedeji, Ibadan are being gifted with Sanitary Pads.
She's represented at the presentation by Mrs Toyin Ogunniyi and Alhaji Babatunde Gandhi.
Mrs Shola Gandhi- Adeyemo is a member of Team Awesome, a group under Longrich Bioscience International under the leadership of the awesome and Phenomenal Mrs Adebisi Kuforiji who started the initiative that is dedicated to finding ways to have a positive impact on adolescent girls in Nigeria.
Mrs Shola Gandhi-Adeyemo recognizes that due to lack of financial resources, some young girls in rural areas or Villages use unsanitary measures for their menstruation cycles, while one in seven girls has had to borrow Sanitary Pads from a friend at school. Mrs Shola Gandhi-Adeyemo plans to continue her fundraising efforts to provide access to sanitary pads throughout the year for these girls. She encourages other Entrepreneurs and well to do Nigerians to find ways to have a positive impact on the health and education of youths in Nigeria, because the youths are truly the future of the country and the goal is to ensure that the future stays bright.
