Itire-Ikate Adire/Kamapala festival: we are determined to reduce unemployment to barest minimum-- Council boss
Lagos, May 25, 2021 (NAN) Dr Ahmed Apatira, the Executive Chairman Itire-Ikate Local Council Development Area (LCDA) has said his administration has determined to reduce unemployment to barest minimum as the trained 200 residents in Adire/Kampala making.
Apatira gave the disclosure at the closing ceremony of the Itire-Ikate Adire training programme on Tuesday.
The chairman who was represented by Pastor Gbenga Oyebode, the Vice Chairman of the LCDA said the programme was organised for the residents as part of ways to tackle unemployment rate in the grassroots.
Today signifies the start of new life for the 200 beneficiaries, you have acquired in Adire making and you are facing the task of becoming successful entrepreneurs with a set target and to achieve your goals.
"The programme was organised for the 200 indigenes and residents which involve both young and old including the grassroots women so as to assist and them support their husband.
"And thousands of students are graduating from universities very year without job out there, the best we can do is to offer vocational trainings for self reliance for residents.
"We train them on how to make Kampala for export which will benefit them and raise their standard of living," he said.
Oyebode said that the development was a life-transforming initiative that was set to reposition the teeming youths for greatness and self-reliance
According to him, there was an exhibition where each of them has opportunity to showcase their works for sales among the interested buyers from within and outside Lagos state.
Mrs Bola Adekoya one of the beneficiaries thanked the chairman for the kind gesture to the residents adding that the programme would go a long way helping them providing for the family needs.
We thank the LCDA chairman for the golden opportunity given to partake in this programme free of charge because Kampala training is a costly programme but we are given the opportunity to learn it for free we really thank the LCDA chairman," he said.
Mr Solomon Olaiya, another beneficiary also gave kudos to the council boss for the free Kampala training saying it would turn to a big establishment for him in the nearest future.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the LCDA, in collaboration with National Union of Textile Garments Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN) organised five Days Itire-Ikate Adire Festival for 200 grassroots youths. (NAN)
